An Evening with Sara Gazarek and Josh Nelson
Josh and Sara have collaborated on several compositions together. Their recordings have been in the top 10 on Billboard’s Top Jazz Album charts. Other recordings include Anticipation released in 2004, Let It Go under the Native Language Music label, and I Hear a Rhapsody released in 2009.
Sara Gazarek, Vocalist
Sara, a Seattle born jazz artist, started her career as a singer in her senior year at Roosevelt High School singing with her jazz band. Sara and the band flew to New York City to compete in the Essentially Ellington Competition, hosted by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. There she was honored with the first-ever Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation Vocal Jazz Award. Gazarek is the recipient of the prestigious Downbeat Student Music Award for Outstanding Collegiate Jazz Vocalist, a distinction that directly led to a spot on the Concord Jazz Festival tour with Oleta Adams, Karrin Allyson, and Diane Schuur.
With the release of “Blossom & Bee” Sara’s album is taking her to the rightful place as an original vocal jazz artist with a unique sound and a stylist concept that continues to blossom and grow. Along with international singing tours, Sara continues her teaching at the University of Southern California and is the new Artistic Director of the DeMiero Jazz Festival.
